Daniela Martini, PhD, is Associate Professor of Human Nutrition at the Department of Food, Environmental and Nutritional Sciences, University of Milan, Italy. Her research focuses on ultra-processed foods, sustainable healthy diets, food reformulation, food labelling, and the relationship between food processing, nutritional quality, and human health. She is actively involved in the Italian Society of Human Nutrition (SINU), where she previously served as Secretary and currently serves as a member of the Scientific Committee, contributing to national scientific initiatives and dietary guidelines.
She is Principal Investigator of the Italian PRIN project PROMENADE, a randomized controlled trial investigating the role of ultra-processed foods in modulating the effects of the Mediterranean diet on human and planetary health. Her research also includes dietary modelling, nutritional epidemiology, and the evaluation of the nutritional quality of packaged foods and plant-based products.
She has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications (Scopus h-index: 43), including systematic reviews, observational studies, randomized trial protocols, and market surveys on ultra-processed foods, their nutritional characteristics, and their relationship with diet quality and health.
