Christian Bruun Kastrup is Chief Consultant at the Danish Dairy Board, focusing on European and international food legislation, food safety, and trade.
He chaired the Additives & Contaminants Working Group of the European Dairy Association (EDA) from 2007 to 2022 and has served as Chair of the EDA Food & Environment Policy Committee since 2022. In these roles, he represents EDA in meetings with the European Commission and has also supported and represented the International Dairy Federation (IDF) at Codex Committee on Food Additives meetings in China on more than 12 occasions.
Christian has been active in the IDF Standing Committee on Food Additives (SCFA) and the Standing Committee on Regulatory Codex Coordination (SCRCC) since 2007. He served as Chair of IDF SCFA from 2020 to 2025, following several terms as Deputy Chair, and has chaired IDF SCRCC since 2022. As Chair, he is a member of the IDF Food Standards Steering Group (FSSG), which coordinates IDF input to Codex Committee meetings.
He has also been an active member of the IDF delegation to several ISO committees developing standards for natural ingredients, plant-based foods, and principles for the production of cell-cultured food products, with a particular focus on protecting dairy terminology. In addition, he is an active member of IDF SCSIL and co-chairs the IDF SCFH Action Team on risk-mitigating measures for Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus in milk.
Alongside his work in food legislation and safety, Christian supports the global trade of Danish dairy products by facilitating engagement between food business operators and competent authorities worldwide.
Christian holds a background in Dairy Technology and has worked in dairy processing plants in both Iceland and Denmark.
