Jenny Reid

Senior Programme Manager International Standards

Jenny has a background in nutrition and public health and has worked with food regulations, both domestic and international, for over 25 years. She was head of delegation to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses and the Committee on Food Labelling for many years, and led on substantive standard development work, including the Codex Standard on Follow up Formula, nutrition labelling, date marking and front of pack labelling.

Jennys career has spanned technical and policy work and included managing the areas of food science and risk assessment, including contributions to the trans-Tasman standards development and more latterly in market access and trade, specifically for south and southeast Asia. 

She has just returned from 3.5 years based in Rome as New Zealand’s agricultural counsellor and deputy permanent representative to the FAO. As well as covering the range of areas of interest to MPI in the work of FAO she remained engaged with the governance decisions that underpin the work of the international standard setting bodies including Codex.

Jenny has returned to Wellington to take on the overall management of the Codex work for MPI working with colleagues across the organisation who are actively contributing to key technical work of interest to New Zealand.
