Josh Townsend is Country Director – New Zealand at Halter, an agricultural technology company building tools to help farmers run more productive and sustainable farming systems. He leads Halter's New Zealand commercial business, having been closely involved in the company's growth from a virtual fencing solution into a broader, data-led farm operating system supporting animal management, pasture utilisation, and day-to-day operations. Drawing on a background spanning agriculture, manufacturing, and commercial leadership, Josh is passionate about turning increasingly rich on-farm data into simple, actionable insights that improve decision-making without adding complexity for farmers. His work alongside dairy and beef farmers across New Zealand has given him a practical perspective on the opportunities and challenges of adopting new technology on farm, and he remains a strong advocate for New Zealand agriculture's global competitiveness through the combination of world-class farming capability with technology and innovation.
