Royce Wiryohandjojo is a food scientist and independent consultant working where product development, manufacturing and global nutrition policy meet.
He spent fifteen years in food and dairy manufacturing — R&D, product development and commercial roles at FrieslandCampina, Kraft Heinz, Danone and Reckitt — working on infant formula, fermentation and stabiliser-replacement platforms, ingredient reformulation and factory-scale process development. He was most recently Global Programme Lead at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), leading food systems and nutrition programmes across Africa and Asia, including fortified dairy, food fortification and school feeding. He holds an MSc in Food Technology from Wageningen and an Executive MBA from Rotterdam School of Management.
That combination — formulation work, factory floor, and the low-income food systems where processed and fortified foods do the heaviest nutritional lifting — shapes his interest in how ultra-processed food policy is written, and who carries the consequences.
