Valeria Csukasi

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs

Ambassador Valeria Csukasi Cabrera has served in the Uruguayan Foreign Service since 2002 and currently holds the position of Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay. Her diplomatic career has spanned key multilateral and regional postings, including Ambassador to Malaysia (2022–2024), Director for Asia, Africa and Oceania (2020–2022), and Director General of Integration and MERCOSUR (2017–2020), during which she served as National Coordinator of the MERCOSUR Common Market Group. Earlier in her career, she was Minister at Uruguay's Mission to the European Union (2013–2017) and Counselor at its Mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva (2005–2011), where she also chaired the WTO Committee on Agriculture for five years. She holds a degree in International Relations from the Universidad de la República, a Master's in Gender and Integral Public Policies from FLACSO Uruguay, and a diploma from the Instituto Artigas del Servicio Exterior. She is fluent in Spanish, English, and French, with a working understanding of Portuguese.
